NFS package not starting - SGLX 12.00.50

Hi everyone,

I try to start my nfs package but its failing.

In the log of the package I finde the following:

service.sh[2879]: Starting service nfs_service using "/opt/cmcluster/conf/scripts/tkit/nfs/tkit_module.sh nfs_monitor"
master_control_script.sh[2267]: ###### Package start completed for nfs ######
nfs.mon[2900]: Node "me2": Starting NFS monitoring process
master_control_script.sh[3122]: ###### Halting package nfs ######
service.sh[3151]: Halting service nfs_service
cmhaltserv: Service name nfs_service is not running.

So it seems the monitoring service is failing imediately which brings down the package.

I tried to set the restart count of the monitoring service to like 5, but that didn't help.

The only way I can start the package is to comment out the monitoring service completly in the package conf.

Any help on that?

Extension of file system from clustered VG in service guard in Suse Linux Platform

$

Hi All

We have an activity where we need to extend a filesystem of a VG which is under the service guard control on SUSE Linux platform. This required to be an offline activity because the Suse Version is an old one. We are not getting the downtime approval for the entire package where other VGs also reside. So we are just planning to extend that particular file system by following the below plan of action.

1. Stop application related to that file system.

2. Unmount the file system manually

3. Extend the file system.

4. Mount the file system manually.

Please suggest do we need to take any further action for the same as it is under service guard or the above plan of action may cause any unplanned outage to the entire package.

Your valuable suggestion will be highly appreciated.

alerting out of Service Guard on SLES

Hello all,

I have a customer that wants to get notified when his Service Guard cluster does a failover for his SAP HANA packages in a dual purpose scenario.

I read in the Managing SG document 12.00.51 in chapter „6.6 Alert Notification for Serviceguard Environment” that this is limited to Oracle, NFS and XDC.

In another chapter I read about check for Cluster status with a cron job.

Does SG has an alerting mechanism beyond this I can suggest to the customer?

Kind Regards,

Andreas Rathgeber

ServiceGuard Manager Installation 12.30 // Keystore Problem

Hi there,

I just tried to get ServiceGuard Manager up and running, but I realized after the installation that the certificate that is delivered is not working. When I curl to the address I get "curl: (35) unknown SSL protocol error..."

Assuming the certificate is invalid I tried to regenerate the keystore according to the installation troubleshooting section at the very end of the Release Notes documentation, and once I did Jetty wasn't able to restart.

I simply generated the key with keytool (eclipse.org documentation) since I am fine when SSL is bringing up the certificate as not signed and then added the new password obfuscated and clear text to the jetty.xml and jetty-ssl.xml. Neither way worked. Any suggestions?

Hello Experts,

I am in situation where I have to add new processor in DL server running Serviceguard cluster and I have to add license after adding new processor.

I am looking for help to understand the procedure to upgrade license key. Action which I am going to follow is :

Ensure that $SGCONF/AutoPass/LicFile.txt exists.
Take the backup of existing file
Obtain new license key , keep into new file /tmp/newSGlicense
Use cmsetlicense –i to upgrade license.
Ensure correct license updated using cmgetlicense -f line

Any one please confirm if it’s the correct procedure or another procedure I have to follow for upgrade?

Thanks

Dear Expert,

We are configuring Oracle DB cluster package through Servicegurad cluster. Now the customer is also asking us to integrate Oracle OEM Agent (emctl start agent & emctl stop agent) in the same DB package. We are not able to find any specific agent/module for this in Servicguard.

For Veritas cluster plugin is already available Deploying the Veritas Cluster Server Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OS Version: RHEL 7.4

Servicegurad Version: 12:.30

Problem installing ServiceGuard for Linux on SLES 15 SP1

$

Just for information. I encountered an issue trying to install ServiceGuard B.12.50.00 (SGeSAP) on 2 VM nodes running SLES 15 SP1. A third VM, also running SLES 15 SP1 as a quorum server.

The ISO image for the SG software was mounted on the primary node and as far as I knew all pre-requisites are in place.
We run the “cminstaller -n node1 -n node2” to install SG. However, when I examine the /var/log/messages file we see the following:

2020-04-07T17:14:54.621188+01:00 node1 systemd[1]: hacl-cfgudp.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
2020-04-07T17:14:54.621332+01:00 node1 systemd[1]: hacl-cfgudp.service: Unit entered failed state.
2020-04-07T17:14:54.621462+01:00 node1 systemd[1]: hacl-cfgudp.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
2020-04-07T17:14:54.639370+01:00 node1 systemd[1]: hacl-cfgudp.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
2020-04-07T17:14:54.639667+01:00 node1 systemd[1]: hacl-cfgudp.service: Unit entered failed state.
2020-04-07T17:14:54.639849+01:00 node1 systemd[1]: hacl-cfgudp.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'

(...)

It turned out that the customer has enabled "secure boot" which prevents changes to the kernel and results in errors as seen above. Checking the documentation we find that it is a pre-requisit which was not checked prior to the installation.

The easy way to check is with the mokutil command:

# mokutil -–sb-state
SecureBoot disabled
#

Disabling secure boot results in ServiceGuard being installed correctly.

How could I use this instruction? (serviceguard)
